In a meeting held by the Noida Metro Rail Corporation (NMRC) officials on Friday, the fares for Noida-Greater Noida Metro (Aqua Line Metro) have been finally decided.
The commuters would have to pay a minimum fare of ₹9 whereas the maximum is kept at ₹50. Travellers can either use smart cards or buy QR-coded paper tickets to travel in Noida-Greater Noida Metro.
Aqua Line Metro Fares Economical Than Delhi Metro
The best part about Aqua Line Metro is, the fares on this line would be lesser expensive as compared to the fares in Delhi Metro. The minimum fare in Delhi Metro is ₹10 and the maximum goes up to ₹60. On the other side, the fares on Aqua Line Metro is ₹10 cheaper than its counterpart.
Smart card users can avail a discount of 10% in Aqua Line Metro like they used to avail in the Delhi Metro.
These announcements were made after the 18th board meeting of the NMRC held yesterday, which was chaired by Sanjay K Murthy, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA). He added that all the metro stations on Noida-Greater Noida Metro Line are set for commercial operations.
DMRC Will Operate Aqua Line
For the first year, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) is given the responsibility to operate and maintain Noida-Greater Noida Metro Line.
City Buses Will Run as Feeder Buses
It was also decided in the meeting that the routes of NMRC-operated city buses will be modified so that they can run as metro feeder buses.
The board has selected new routes, namely, to connect Greater Noida West with Noida City Centre Metro Station and Sector 51 Metro Station for better commutation on Aqua Line Metro. Also, feeder buses will benefit commuters residing in Sector 50, 51 and 76 and nearby areas.
Apart from this, e-rickshaw services will offer last-mile connectivity to the travellers from Aqua Line Metro Stations to the places within four kilometres distance.
20% Hike in Salaries
Among all the other decision made on Aqua Line Metro, the board has also approved the implementation of the Seventh Pay Commission, which will benefit 750 regular employees working with NMRC. With this, they will be paid 20% higher than their current remuneration.
UP PAC Will Guard Aqua Line Metro
Usually, it is Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) who is assigned with the job to shield metro. However, it will be the first time when UP Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC) will guard Noida-Greater Noida Metro Line.
This task is given to the 49th battalion of the UP PAC who will get training from CISF personnel to secure Aqua Line Metro.
