Turning their said words into reality at the time of declaring the Union Budget 2018, the central government approves the construction work of over 1.86 lakhs affordable houses in the urban areas under its flagship program, Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY). With this, the total count for the construction of affordable houses under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) will reach to 39.25 lakhs.
The recent approval under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, PMAY (Urban) will require an investment cost of around ₹11,169 crores. While the central government will provide monetary assistance of ₹2,797 crores, said the Housing and Urban Affairs Ministry in their statement.
There will be 53,290 houses built in Haryana, the maximum in the round of approval. After this, 40,623 houses in Tamil Nadu, 32,656 houses in Karnataka and 15,584 houses have been approved in Gujarat.
On the other side, Maharashtra got 12,123 houses, Kerala 9,461, Uttarakhand 6,226 and Orissa 5,133 houses.
After absorbing project being built by the previous government under its housing program ‘Rajiv Awas Yojana (RAY)’, the total telly of the houses that are funded under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, PMAY (Urban) has reached more than 39.25 lakhs.
